Hi Everybody,
I am back! There was probably a sandstorm or something else that distracted me from coming back and, of course, we moved to Bayern in July 2014.
I appreciate all the comments that you all wrote and the welcomes! To those who wrote in English . However, I can understand German quite well, so please feel free to write in your best language if that if German. This is exactly what I am doing here, since I know that most of you will probably understand my writing here.
My daughter is currently in Grade 2 here in the local Grundschule. She loves her school and her teacher. She loves to read in both English and German. Her best friend in class is another American girl, with whom she speaks English to her mother's and my chagrin as well. We would prefer that they speak German at school with each other so as not to alienate the other kids.
Apparently, she has a 1-2 in math and a solid 2 in German, according to her teacher. I hope to keep it that way so that she can get the Abitur and get free university education. Coming from the US, this is a great thing in my mind.
My daughter's grandparents speak Dialekt, her best friend speaks English, I also speak English with her and her Papa works out of town and is only home 3 days a week. We let her watch tv on the weekends only and she watches German programs.
Anyway, I have lots of questions, but I thought that I should just give an update and mich melden beforehand.
